Most of earth consists of water, some of which are lakes found 20,000 ft above sea level. These altitudes are like where clouds live and where oxygen is only fifty percent of that at sea level. Here’s a list of the top 10 most elevated lakes in the world
10. Damavand Pool, Iran
This lake is about 5,650 meters above sea level in the crater summit of the mountain with approx. 20 to 40 meters in diameter. It’s frozen for most of the year, but in a hot summer, it can melt and form to an icy pool.
9. Poquentica Lake, Bolivia/Chile

On the borders of Chile and Bolivia with an elevation of around 5,750 meters on the summit of an extinct volcano. It was first discovered in 2005 by Nathalie Cabrol and a team of scientists from the SETI Institute. They described the lake as mostly frozen and full of crystals in the surrounding terrain. As with most of these lakes, it is a large and dangerous climb.

It has the look of a Valcano shape and is located between Bolivia and Chile. It’s about a kilometer from the Chilean border and is substantially bigger than some of the other lakes; 100 meters length and 70 meters width. This Crater Lake has a height of 5,916 meters.

Located in Chile, measuring 5,950 meters in altitude and 10 to 15 meters in diameter. Acamarachi is a coned shaped volcano with steep upper flanks and a lava dome.

Situated between Chile and Argentina on the south east border. At one end it has the beautiful small lake with just 100 meter diameter and about 10 meters deep.
