The highest mountain peaks in the world are located in the Himalayas Mountain Ranges, which are the youngest on earth but are more than 50 million years old. These wide and large Mountain extend across six countries, which include Nepal, Pakistan, China, India and Bhutan, here is a list of the Top 10 mountain peaks in the world.

10. Annapurna

 

It is located in Himalayas Range of Nepal with 26,545 ft high above sea level. Historically, Annapurna peaks are among the world’s most dangerous mountains to climb. 

9. Nanga Parbat

 

 

The deadliest peak located in the Himalayas Range of Pakistan also known as ‘Naked Mountain’, with its awesome beauty lies 26,660 ft above sea level.

8. Manaslu

 

Manaslu also known as ‘Mountain of the Spirit’ is located in Himalayas in Nepal measuring 26,759 ft above sea level. 

 7. Dhaulagiri

 

It is located solely in Nepal in Himalayas Range, termed as the ‘White Mountain’ with 26,795 ft above sea level. It was first climbed on May 13, 1960 by a Swiss/Austrian/Nepali expedition.

6. Cho Oyu

 

The popular mountain due to its ease of climbing, with 26,905 ft located in Himalayas Range (Nepal and Tibbet).

5. Makalu

 

Makalu measures 27,762 ft (8,425 metres). Located on the border between Nepal and China, it is made up of red granite, also known as ‘The Great Black’. Makalu is an isolated peak whose shape is a four sided pyramid.

4. Lhotse

 

Near the Everest and in shade of Everest, the ‘Lhotse’ lies with the height of 27,940 ft. (8,516 metres). Lhotse is connected to the latter peak via the South Col. Lhotse which means ‘South Peak” in Tibetan.

3. Kangchenjunga

 

Kangchenjunga also spelled Kanchenjunga is the 3rd highest mountain in the world. Measuring 28,169 ft. It lies between Nepal and Sikkim India. Kangchenjunga is an a Nepali word which means ‘Five Treasures of Snow’, as having five peaks in Himalaya Range.

2. K2 peak

 

K2 Peak also known as the “Savage Mountain” because of horrifying dangers in climbing is the second highest mountain in the world, with 28,169 ft above sea level. It is Located on the China-Pakistan border border. K2 Peak is the highest point of Karakoram Range and highest point in Pakistan and Xinjiang. It is usually climbed from the Pakistani side as it is more difficult to reach from the Chinese side.

Everest is the highest peak in the world and is located in the Himalaya Range on the borders of Nepal and Tibet, with 29,035.44 ft above sea level. It was named after the renowned geographer George Everest. Every year hundreds of mountain climbers challenge themselves by attempting to climb this mountain  with all its dangers attempt to conquer the peak.
